One of the first strategies we want to think about is… what kind of lifestyle do we want and… Dream Big… and I mean Dream Really Big!

So… What would it be like to be healthy and diabetes free? Could you see yourself running a marathon, swimming 100 laps, skiing, hiking, ice-skating, water skiing, climbing a mountain, taking a week long bike trip across the country, dancing every day of the week? How about running around with your kids or grand kids?

Can you see yourself in your new perfect body, slim waistline, and great muscle tone, and an all new wardrobe? How would you feel if you could do some of those things and enjoy your life more?"

Our dreams of what we want to be, do, and have is a very important starting point because our dreams keep us inspired to keep us moving forward to become healthy and being diabetes free.

James Allen is one of my favorite authors and wrote the book As A Man Thinketh and here's what he said:

"The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The Oaks sleeps in the acorn; the bird awaits in the egg; and the highest vision of the soul awaking Angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities."

So let's say for now… you have a dream of becoming Healthy and diabetes free… you have to treat that dream as if you're going to "The Olympics".

All Olympic athletes have to be healthy and in top physical condition to compete… and the same is true for you. If you're sick your mind get's a little fuzzy and it's hard to concentrate or focus.

So identifying "why" you want to “Be Diabetes Free” is very important. And having a support system and the tools that you can use every day to keep you on your path to being healthy and diabetes free is also really important.

People who are in alignment with their dreams find passion and are inspired to take action. People who are not aligned end up quitting. So… we have to stay aligned with our dreams.

Matthew Kelly wrote a book called The Dream Manager and he says:
"At different points in our journey, it's easy to get caught up in surviving that we stop dreaming. When we stop dreaming, we slowly begin to disengage from our relationships, and from life itself. Dreams bring us back to life. Dreams animate us. The pursuit of dreams creates passion, energy, enthusiasm, and vitality."

People with small dreams have big excuses… you can't get them off the couch… but… People with big dreams don't have excuses they find solutions to obstacles. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eye off our dreams.

See yourself being healthy and diabetes free… and climbing that mountain.
